New
Pioneer
Part 5: A pioneer in a long
line of ancestors
You know,
when I retire, I am moving to Asheville, North Carolina,
in the west, so that I can be in my beloved Blue Ridge Mountains.
I love it there; with its twisting and winding mountain
lanes and Bohemian culture. It suits me to a "T."
In the meantime,
I'm going to have to enjoy Sydney, Australia, because I
married the guy in Sydney, after three and a half years
of online flirtation. We're coming up on our second wedding
anniversary.
Of course,
my family misses me, but my sons are grown and are more
interested in their friends and girlfriends now, and I have
neglected that part of myself that wanted love and security.
I have accepted the fact that I am a pioneer in the long
line of ancestors who never left the Erie basin.
Somewhere
in the back of my mind, I am in the wilderness, wearing
a poke bonnet and prairie skirt, and carry a Web cam and
laptop computer.
